I traveled to Prague and Rīga in July 2017. I took a ton of photos when I was visiting those cities, so I decided to make something special out of those two cityscapes. Since I'm from the Portland area, I decided to make a third illustration of Downtown Portland.
I traced the buildings in Illustrator and recolored the outlines in Photoshop to turn them into intricate neon signs.
Each city has its own character and color scheme. Prague is known for its red rooftops and beautiful palaces. Rīga has its towers and churches. Portland has its newer, blocky buildings and a view of Mt. Hood.
My original photos of Prague and Rīga:
I used a photo I found online for the Portland cityscape because my personal photos didn't include some of the iconic buildings I wanted in my illustration.
